Thank You to the Turtle Hospital

The Board of Directors for the Holden Beach Turtle Patrol (HBTP) met with Kathy Zagzebski, the Executive Director for the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center (KBSTRRC), at the turtle hospital and toured the Sea Turtle Sick Bay. The HBTP Stranding Team took a total of 6 sick or injured sea turtles found on Holden Beach to the hospital in 2024 for treatment, care, and rehabilitation. HBTP awarded a $5,000 grant to the turtle hospital, our sea turtle conservancy partner, as thanks for their caring for our sea turtles. The grant will be used to upgrade the Sea Turtle Sick Bay. They plan to install a new filtration system and new tanks at the hospital. According to Kathy Zagzebski, Executive Director of KBSTRRC, the grant “pushed them over the top and really made a difference” for this project.
