Turtle Season is Over

posted: September 14, 2016, 8:28 PM

Our last nest of the season closed tonight with 8 hatchlings found and released to the water. The season wrapped up earlier than previous years because no nests were laid in August. A total of 6250 eggs were laid over 52 nests with 5517 hatchlings released to the ocean resulting in a 88% hatch rate. Thanks to all our supporters for a terrific season! We'll see you in mid to late May 2017 when we expect the nesting mothers to return to Holden Beach.
