Turtles are are in motion!

Nests #1, #2 and #4 have closed out. Nest #3 team is looking for something exciting to happen soon. Nest #6 boiled overnight Saturday without anyone being there. The morning rider found lots of little tracks in the sand. We had a gap of 8 days without a new nest being laid, but nest #40 was laid on overnight Saturday. The team moved 54 eggs. This is a smaller number of eggs than average and may be because it is later in the season and the mother may have already laid several nests this year. Nest #41 was laid last night with an unknown number of eggs because the team left it where the mother laid it. We still have several weeks possible in the nesting season. Last year there were 52 nests on Holden Beach...we may get to that number again this year...but the mommas are slowing down.
