Nine Nests and Counting

posted: June 11, 2018, 9:53 PM

Since the first nest was laid on 5/20/18, there have been an additional 8 nests which brings the total number of nests on Holden Beach to 9. The mother turtles will continue to nest through June and July and possibly into early August so it's always good to remember the ways you can help with the nesting process: fill in all holes and remove chairs and canopies at the end of the day; use a red cover on your flashlight or a red light when walking the beach after dark; don't use flash photography if you are lucky enough to come upon a nesting mother turtle; turn off your porch lights and close the blinds/curtains after dark. Thank you for helping the nesting mother turtles!
