Nesting Fenzy

WOW - after an early first nest, the mother turtles having been nesting like crazy on Holden Beach! There were 3 nests found Saturday morning plus an additional FIVE nests this morning bringing our nest count to 11!! Typically, we find our first nest around this time in May but this year's nesting pattern is anything but typical. The nests stretch the entire length of the beach with a couple on the east end and the remainder along the west end. Attached is a picture of the egg "clutch" found at nest 11 - the nest was dug up and moved because it was very close to the high tide line. The nest was relocated beside nest 9 (also found this morning).
