Hatchling News

Hatchlings were seen on the beach this past week! Nest 25 boiled Tuesday evening with 25 hatchlings and an additional 2 were found when the nest was inventoried Friday evening. Sadly, 100 unpatched eggs were also found. And, nest 35 which was thought lost after Hurricane Isaias, hatched sometime Friday night; the stranding team found tracks and one hatchling. The nest will be monitored for additional hatching. No new nests have been found since the Hurricane, but patrol members continue to search the beach each morning for “crawl tracks” as signs of possible new nests.
