They're out there!

Yes! The sea turtles are out there! The sea turtle season on Holden Beach starts on May 1. Our volunteers will begin searching the beach each morning looking for signs of a mother turtle. Last year our first nest was laid on May 8 and the year before it was May 11 (check our photo section for first nest history).

As proof that they're offshore, Brandi Driggers, Assistant Interpreter at Edisto Beach State Park in South Carolina took these photos of two Loggerheads off their park on April 5, 2021.

Please remember if you see a Mother Sea Turtle on the beach, please call our Standing Team Emergency phone at 910 -754-0766. Also, please do not shine a light (of any color) on her and please do not take flash photography.
**This conservation work for protected sea turtles on Holden Beach is authorized by the NC Wildlife Resources Commission (ES Permit 22ST11).**
