Well our Leatherback nest (nest 2) has hatched and been closed out. We had 59 babies get to the water out of 69 eggs which is a good hatch rate for a Leatherback nest.Nest 3 was closed out with 102 babies making it to the water. Nest 4 - 7 have hatched and been closed out with 107 babies from nest 4, 68 from nest 5, 115 from nest 6, and 127 from nest 7. Nest 8 hatched with 52 babies and will be closed out tomorrow and nest 11 hatched with 74 babies and will be closed out Saturday. Nest 9, 10 and 12 are in the window and may be hatching at any time. It appears that the mothers have stopped laying for this season since it has been over 2 weeks since we have had a nest. We should have nests hatching through the end of September so look for us on the beach, we will be glad to see you.
