Partners in Amphibian and Reptile Conservation (PARC) has declared 2011 as the year of the turtle. They’re celebrating all turtles, not just sea turtles.
The September 2011 Year of the Turtle Newsletter and Calendar is now ready and can be found on line at http://parcplace.org/images/stories/YOT/YearoftheTurtleCalendarSeptember.pdf

This month’s issue features a great photo of a sea turtle on Bald Head Island and highlights efforts and ways you can help, to conserve sea turtles.

They also have a photo contest. More information about our ongoing photo contest is available at www.yearoftheturtle.org. Give them your best shot! Send in some great photos you may have of the sea turtles on Holden Beach.

Visit www.yearoftheturtle.org to find the Newsletter, calendar and photo contest information for upcoming months, they also have Year of the Turtle Flip Cards (featuring the Top 25 most threatened turtles of the world), a USA Turtle Mapping Project reporting forms, the Year of the Turtle screensaver and video. Contact PARC at yearoftheturtle2011@gmail.com with any specific questions you may have about this project or organization.
