The Waiting Begins!

Our first 3 nests have been "trenched" and the waiting begins. No baby turtle, yet. They are "expected" any day now. Look for and visit with Turtle Patrol members on the beach in the evening by these nests--look for the red shirts. Traditionally the first nests of the season take a little longer than the normal 55-60 day incubation--because the sand was cooler back in May and early June when these nests were laid.

On the other hand, the mother turtles are still nesting. We had 4 more just this morning! This is one of our record years for number of nests on Holden Beach.
