Nesting Season is Here!

We just got word that the first turtle nest in NC for 2014 was laid yesterday (May 9) at Cape Lookout. It was a loggerhead nest. The water temperature at Holden Beach is going up (72 degrees) which hopefully means we'll see mommas on our beach soon. Morning riders have begun their early morning searches for turtle crawls. Please remember Turtles Dig the Dark! If you live (or are renting) on Holden Beach please turn off outside lights that face the beach and in carports. Also, shield indoor lights from shining directly onto the beach by closing the drapes at night. Lights disturb nesting sea turtles.
