Morning Excitement

People always ask: "do the turtles always hatch at night?" While that is normal, the baby turtles can come anytime they are ready. There was a bit of excitement on this beach about 7:50 this morning. Our rider found nest #21 "boiling". We really don't know how many left the nest!

This makes 21 of our 53 nest having boiled so far. Nests 26-30 are scheduled to be "collared" this week.

It has been 13 days since the last momma laid a new nest on Holden Beach. We usually consider the nesting season over when two weeks go by without a new nest, but our ATV riders will still be out in the morning watching for crawls and checking the nests.
