As of June 20 we have 21 nests and 29 false crawls on our beach. Last year on this date we had 25 nests. These numbers could change quickly....last Sunday June 18 we had 3 nests and 4 false crawls in just one morning. Mother turtles can nest into mid-August.

We can expect to see hatchlings in mid-July from those nests that were laid in early May. Incubation usually takes 55-60 days.

Children's Turtle Time and Turtle Talk educational programs begin next Wednesday June 28. They will be held at the Holden Beach Chapel. CTT is at 4 p.m. and TT at 7 p.m. Both programs are free of charge.
