The final nest on our beach was inventoried on Sunday October 8 marking the end of the turtle season. The team found 35 empty shells, 9 non viable eggs and 1 live baby that was sent along its way to the ocean.

The official statistics for the year: 75 nests. 6252 hatchlings released into ocean. 8747 known eggs.

First nest laid in May 12 and last nest laid on August 10.

This photo was taken early Friday morning October 5 confirming that the nest boiled overnight. Lots of tiny flipper tracks in the sand.

Our turtle patrol was founded in 1989...this completes our 35th season of working to protect the sea turtles on our beach.
